Western Sahara: Freedom March Members Received at Spanish Parliament Headquarters

MADRID – Members of the Freedom March were received at the Spanish Parliament headquarters in Madrid, in a meeting focused on the deteriorating human rights situation of Sahrawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails.

The delegation used the occasion to shed light on the torture and abuse suffered by Sahrawi detainees during interrogations and their imprisonment—acts that have been confirmed by the UN Committee Against Torture (CAT) following complaints filed by legal defense teams in cooperation with human rights organizations.

The Spanish Parliament’s Parliamentary Group on Western Sahara reaffirmed its commitment to holding the Spanish government accountable, particularly over its silence on the suffering of Sahrawi prisoners and the recent harassment of the Freedom March delegation by individuals identified as Moroccan police officers in the Spanish city of Algeciras.
