Araqchi: No Enrichment, No Deal — Iran Demands U.S. Recognition of Nuclear Rights

Tehran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi affirmed on Thursday that Iran will only agree to a nuclear deal with the United States if Washington formally acknowledges Iran’s right to enrich uranium. In a post on X, Araqchi emphasized that mastering nuclear fuel production is a rare and sovereign capability, grounded in decades of national investment and sacrifice.
“There is a reason why only a few nations master the ability to fuel nuclear reactors,” he wrote, pointing to Iran’s industrial and academic advancements. He added, “Iran has paid dearly for these capabilities, and there is no scenario in which we will give up on the patriots who made our dream come true.” Araqchi made his position clear with the statement: “No enrichment, no deal,” while also reiterating Iran’s commitment to non-proliferation by adding, “No nuclear weapons, we have a deal.”
His remarks came hours after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei defended the strategic importance of Iran’s nuclear program, calling on the U.S. to halt interference. Khamenei framed uranium enrichment as integral to Iran’s sovereignty and reiterated that the principle of “We Can” is foundational to the country’s independence.
