Gaza on the Brink: UNRWA Urges Immediate Opening of Crossings for Aid

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) on Friday called for the immediate and unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, as the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the ongoing genocide by the Zionist occupation authorities continues to escalate after 20 months.

In a statement, UNRWA said its warehouse in the Jordanian capital, Amman, holds enough supplies to support over 200,000 people for an entire month. The aid includes flour, food parcels, hygiene items, blankets, and medicine, all ready for immediate dispatch.

The agency highlighted that the warehouse is only a three-hour drive from Gaza, underscoring the impact of the severe blockade imposed by the occupation forces, which continues to obstruct the delivery of essential aid.

“Gaza needs massive assistance, and the flow of supplies must be allowed without obstruction or interruption,” UNRWA stated.

The agency emphasized that humanitarian needs in Gaza are immense and require urgent intervention, calling for the reopening of crossings and the regular and sustained delivery of aid to save lives.

The Gaza Strip has been facing a catastrophic humanitarian and relief crisis since March 2, when occupation forces closed border crossings, blocking the entry of food, medicine, aid, and fuel.
