Algeria, EU Discuss Reviving Strategic Partnership and Regional Security in Brussels

BRUSSELS — On the sidelines of the 3rd African Union-European Union Foreign Ministers Meeting, Algeria’s Minister of state, Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, held talks on wednesday in Brussels with the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.

According to a statement from the Algerian Foreign Ministry, the meeting focused on reviewing various aspects of cooperation and coordination between Algeria and the EU. The two sides discussed reactivating the institutional mechanisms framing the Algeria-EU partnership, with particular emphasis on revising the existing partnership agreement to achieve a better economic balance.

The discussions also included an exchange of views on pressing regional issues, notably the ongoing developments in Libya and the broader instability in the Sahel region, where both parties expressed concern over rising tensions and security challenges.
