Palestinian President Urges Global Action to End Gaza Siege and Recognize Palestinian Statehood

President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine has issued a powerful and urgent appeal to world leaders, calling for immediate and decisive action to end “catastrophic and tragic” situation in the Gaza Strip. In a statement released Tuesday, Abbas demanded an end to ongoing Zionist aggression, the lifting of the siege, and the full delivery of humanitarian and medical aid by land, sea, and air.

“It is no longer possible to remain silent in the face of the crimes of genocide, destruction, and starvation perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces,” Abbas stated. He called on the international community to ensure a permanent ceasefire, the release of all detainees and prisoners, the Zionist entity’s complete withdrawal from Gaza, and for the Palestinian government to assume full responsibility for the enclave.

Abbas stressed that this moment is pivotal and requires “unprecedented courageous positions” from Arab, Islamic, and international actors to uphold Palestinian rights and end the occupation.

The President reiterated the urgent need to implement a two-state solution in accordance with international law, establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Al-Quds as its capital. He welcomed recent international stances—including joint statements by the leaders of Britain, France, and Canada, as well as EU countries—that condemned the blockade and the weaponization of humanitarian aid by the Zionist entity.

Abbas also expressed support for the upcoming international peace conference in New York and extended thanks to all nations advocating for an end to the war and delivery of aid. “We will not leave,” he concluded, “and we will remain here on the land of our homeland, Palestine.”
