Algeria Has Made Good Governance a Strategic Choice, Says Boughali from Jakarta

ALGIERS – The President of the Algerian People’s National Assembly (APN), Brahim Boughali, declared on Wednesday from Jakarta, Indonesia, that Algeria has made good governance a “strategic choice,” according to a statement from the APN.

Speaking at the 19th session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), Boughali stated that Algeria’s commitment to good governance is part of a “comprehensive reform vision launched by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, focused on modernizing state institutions, enhancing transparency, and promoting social justice.”

Boughali emphasized that recent constitutional reforms have strengthened rights and freedoms, enshrined the principle of peaceful political transition, and reinforced judicial independence, all in response to the aspirations of the Algerian people.

Addressing global challenges such as climate change, economic crises, food security, and geopolitical tensions, Boughali said Algeria believes that cooperation, unity, and the exchange of governance expertise are the only viable paths forward. He affirmed Algeria’s firm stance on the Palestinian cause, criticizing international silence over crimes against Palestinians, and called for unity.

Boughali also voiced concern over rising tensions between India and Pakistan, urging restraint and dialogue. Reiterating Algeria’s commitment to non-interference, respect for sovereignty, and peaceful conflict resolution, Boughali stressed the need for stronger parliamentary cooperation and legislation that upholds governance as a global model rooted in national sovereignty and international solidarity.
