EU Envoys Approve 17th Sanctions Package Against Russia

Ambassadors from European Union member states have given the green light to the 17th package of sanctions targeting Russia, an EU institutional source confirmed Tuesday.
The sanctions, aimed at further tightening economic pressure on Moscow, are expected to be formally adopted by EU foreign ministers on May 20.
Once published in the Official Journal of the EU, the new sanctions will come into effect. According to earlier reports, the latest measures will include the blacklisting of approximately 60 Russian individuals and entities, as well as partners aiding Moscow. In addition, between 50 and 150 oil tankers involved in transporting Russian crude are set to be sanctioned.
