Algeria : Terrorist Surrenders, Eleven Terrorist Supporters Arrested in One Week

ALGIERS- A terrorist surrendered to the military authorities of Bordj Badji Mokhtar and eleven (11) terrorist supporters were arrested by detachments of the Algerian People’s National Army, in several operations conducted nationwide in the period from 30 April to 6 May, the People’s National Army said Wednesday in an operational report.

“As part of the ongoing counterterrorism efforts against the multifaceted organized crime, units and detachments of the People’s National Army carried out, in the period from 30 April to 6 May 2025, several operations that led to quality results showing the professionalism, vigilance and permanent readiness of our armed forces nationwide,” said the source.

In the fight against terrorism, “the efforts of Army units have resulted in the surrender of a terrorist called Berbouchi Saidou, alias Abdelaziz, to the military authorities of Bordj Badji Mokhtar.” The terrorist was “in possession of a Kalashnikov submachine gun, a quantity of ammunition and other items.” “Detachments of the People’s National Army have arrested eleven terrorist supporters, in separate operations through the national territory.”

In the fight against organized crime, “the sustained efforts to counter the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, combined Army detachments have intercepted, in coordination with different security services, in operations carried out in various military regions, 40 drug traffickers and thwarted attempts to smuggle 3 quintals and 39 kg of cannabis through the border with Morocco, while 17.86kg of cocaine and 3,743,658 psychotropic tablets were seized.”

In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Salah and In Guezzam, detachments of the People’s National Army “ arrested 438 individuals and seized 41 vehicles, 137 power generators, 280 jackhammers, nine metal detectors, quantities of raw gold stones, explosives, detonation devices and equipment used in illegal gold mining.”

“Twelve individuals were arrested and four shotguns, 278,600 liters of fuel, as well as 5.85 tons of foodstuffs destined to smuggling and speculation were seized, in various operations,” according to the source.
