WHO : Gaza’s Children Face Death as Malnutrition and Disease Spiral Out of Control

The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised the alarm over the growing malnutrition crisis among children in the Gaza Strip, reporting that nearly 10,000 children have been diagnosed with severe malnutrition since the beginning of 2025.

Of these, approximately 1,400 children are in critical condition and require immediate medical intervention. The WHO warned that children who reach this level of malnutrition without timely treatment face a high risk of death. Although three treatment centers are currently operating in Gaza, many children are unable to access care due to ongoing conflict, displacement, and logistical obstacles—leading to one in five children not completing their treatment.

The organization also voiced deep concern about the rise in acute watery diarrhea, which is particularly dangerous for malnourished children. This surge is linked to the collapse of Gaza’s water and sanitation systems, compounding the already dire humanitarian situation.
