Trump Congratulates Canadian PM Mark Carney on Election Victory, Agrees to Meet

US President Donald Trump congratulated Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on his recent victory in the federal elections, Carney’s office confirmed Tuesday. The leaders discussed the importance of Canada and the United States working together as independent, sovereign nations for their mutual benefit. They also agreed to meet in person soon to further strengthen their cooperation.

This phone call followed the Liberal Party’s success in Monday’s elections, securing another four-year mandate and reinforcing public support for Carney’s leadership despite challenges posed by Trump’s tariff policies and his ongoing attempts to annex Canada.

According to preliminary results from Elections Canada, the Liberal Party won a majority with 43.5% of the vote, securing 169 out of 343 seats in the House of Commons. However, they fell short of the 172 seats needed to form a majority government. The Conservative Party, the main opposition, won 41.4% of the vote and secured 144 seats.

The Liberals are set to continue their leadership for a fourth consecutive term, marking a period of significant stability and continued governance since their last parliamentary majority in 2015.
