ASBU Director Hails Algeria’s Role in Defending Arab Unity and Advancing Media Reform

ALGIERS — The Director General of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), Souleiman Abderrahim, on Monday commended the role of Algeria, under the leadership of the President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in backing joint Arab action against conspiracies targeting the Arab Nation.
In his speech at the opening of the 4th Regional Meeting of journalists and media professionals, chaired by the Minister of Communication, Mohamed Meziane, Souleiman hailed “the support of the Algerian leadership under the guidance of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for joint Arab action to make it a solid bulwark against conspiracies targeting the Arab Nation.”
The speaker highlighted the importance of the Regional Meetings of journalists and media professionals, describing them as an opportunity “for direct dialogue with media executives to evaluate the current media landscape and explore future prospects, while addressing challenges brought by profound changes in the media.”
He said that “advances in modern communication technology, the growth of artificial intelligence and the spread of rumors and fake news on social media require the development of work tools and the enhancement of skills through ongoing training.”
He added that “ASBU is working toward this goal, as is the Ministry of Communication, which has launched a training program for journalists and media professionals to enable them to adapt to digital transformations.”
For his part, the Governor of Algiers, Mohamed Abdenour Rabehi, affirmed that the national press serves as “the cornerstone in building societies and supporting development processes by bridging citizens and State institutions.”
