Five Thai police officers lost their lives in a plane crash over the sea during a parachute jump exercise, authorities reported on Friday.
The incident occurred on Friday morning near the coastal resort of Hua Hin, located southwest of the capital, Bangkok.
Officials have retrieved the black box to investigate the cause of the small aircraft’s descent. A sixth officer who was aboard the plane survived and is currently hospitalized with serious injuries, according to police spokesperson Archayon Kraithong.
Images shared on social media depict the aircraft spiraling down before plunging into the water.
