Jamie Vardy to Leave Leicester City at End of Season After 13 Iconic Years

Jamie Vardy, the legendary striker of Leicester City, will depart the club at the end of the current season, the club announced on Thursday. The 38-year-old forward, who joined Leicester in 2012 from non-league side Fleetwood Town, has scored an astonishing 198 goals in 498 appearances across 13 memorable seasons.

Club chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha paid tribute to Vardy, calling him “unique” and praising both his contribution on the pitch and his character off it. “He holds a place in the hearts of everyone connected to Leicester City,” Srivaddhanaprabha said. “I am endlessly grateful for everything he has given to this Football Club.”

Vardy’s remarkable career includes leading Leicester to their historic Premier League title win in the 2015-16 season—the club’s only top-flight triumph in its 131-year history. He was also instrumental in their 2021 FA Cup victory. His departure comes at a difficult time for the Foxes, who are currently facing relegation after a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool last weekend.
