Trump Slams Russian Airstrikes on Kyiv, Urges Immediate Peace Deal

U.S. President Donald Trump criticized recent Russian missile attacks on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, calling them “not necessary” and poorly timed as diplomatic efforts to end the war continue. “5,000 soldiers a week are dying. Let’s get the Peace Deal DONE!” Trump posted on social media, directly appealing to Russian President Vladimir Putin to halt the strikes.

The comments followed a deadly assault reported early Thursday by Ukrainian authorities, who confirmed at least eight people were killed and 90 injured in the latest wave of missile attacks. The strikes targeted civilian areas, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation in the city.

The escalation comes as fragile negotiations are ongoing in hopes of reaching a peace agreement. The war, now entering its fourth year, has drawn renewed international concern over rising casualties and the lack of progress toward a ceasefire.
