Shooting Triggers Lockdown at Toronto Pearson Airport

TORONTO — Toronto Pearson International Airport was placed under lockdown Thursday morning following reports of a shooting, with emergency responders performing CPR on at least one individual, according to police and local media.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing gunfire and screams near Terminal 1 as scenes of panic unfolded. Images and video circulating on social media showed a heavy police presence, including armed officers securing the area and numerous emergency vehicles at the airport’s entrance. Travellers were seen abandoning rideshares and walking with luggage amid the confusion.
Peel Paramedics confirmed an active response to the incident and rushed to the scene around 7 a.m. local time. Meanwhile, the Ontario Provincial Police closed Highway 409 leading to Terminal 1 Departures, urging motorists to avoid the area due to the ongoing investigation. Authorities have not yet confirmed any fatalities or suspects involved.
