Earthquake in Turkey: Number of Injured Rises to 236

The number of individuals injured in the 6.2-magnitude earthquake that struck Istanbul on Wednesday has climbed to 236, according to Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu.
The injuries were predominantly a result of panic, with some people jumping from several floors during the quake. All those injured are currently receiving treatment in hospitals, and no fatalities have been reported, the minister confirmed.
The earthquake, which had its epicenter in the Sea of Marmara off the coast of Istanbul, prompted widespread safety measures across the city.
The Istanbul governor’s office announced a two-day suspension of classes in all primary and secondary schools. Administrative leave has been granted to disabled officials, pregnant women, and mothers of children under the age of 10. Schools, gymnasiums, and mosques have been designated as public shelters.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 6.92 km and lasted for 13 seconds. By 5:55 PM local time (2:55 PM GMT), 127 aftershocks had been recorded, with the strongest measuring 5.9 in magnitude.
No residential buildings in the city collapsed, except for an abandoned structure in the Fatih neighborhood, as reported by the governor’s office.
