UN Chief Guterres Strongly Condemns Deadly Attack on Tourists in Jammu and Kashmir

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has strongly condemned the armed attack that took place on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing that attacks against civilians are unacceptable under any circumstances.
In a statement delivered by his spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, Guterres offered his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, noting that at least 28 people were killed in the incident. “The Secretary-General stresses that attacks against civilians are unacceptable under any circumstances,” Dujarric said.
On Tuesday afternoon, terrorists opened fire at a popular meadow near Pahalgam, resulting in the deaths of 26 people, mostly tourists. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah described the attack as “much larger than anything we’ve seen directed at civilians in recent years,” and confirmed that the death toll was still being verified.
