Iran’s Foreign Minister Highlights Progress in Indirect Talks with U.S.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi met with China’s first-ranked Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, updating him on the progress of the indirect Iran-U.S. talks.

Araqchi visited Beijing to deliver a message from President Masoud Pezeshkian to Chinese leaders. During the meeting, he stated that despite the “bitter experiences” of the past, Iran has once again committed to the path of diplomacy with “good faith and seriousness.”

Iran and the United States have held two rounds of talks mediated by Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, with a third session planned in Muscat, Oman.

Araqchi stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral and multilateral ties, particularly within the frameworks of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS. He emphasized that closer cooperation is essential to “confront bullying and unilateralism.”

He also condemned ongoing Zionist war on Gaza and the escalation of U.S. aggression against Yemen, urging for a global response to halt “lawlessness” and prevent the “law of the jungle” from dominating international relations.

In response, Ding reaffirmed China’s support for Iran’s diplomatic efforts to end U.S. sanctions. He emphasized that the strategic partnership between Iran and China is rooted in mutual trust, respect, and shared national interests.
