Iran Rejects Media Speculations About Its Talks With the U.S.

Tehran has rejected media speculations regarding the content of its indirect negotiations with Washington on Iran’s civilian nuclear program and the lifting of U.S. sanctions. “We do not confirm the details raised about the issues raised in the Iran-U.S. talks. They are merely media speculations,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said at a weekly press conference on Monday. He stressed that the negotiation details are confidential and denied media-reported claims.

Baqaei confirmed that Tehran and Washington have held two rounds of indirect talks in Muscat and Rome, with a third round scheduled in Muscat. He reiterated that Iran’s primary demand is the tangible termination of unlawful U.S. sanctions, ensuring Iran’s normal economic and banking activities with guarantees to avoid past negative experiences. Baqaei also noted Iran’s regular contacts with European JCPOA signatories and described European threats to activate the snapback mechanism as unconstructive.

On nuclear inspections, Baqaei confirmed that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) continues its monitoring of Iran’s nuclear program within the existing legal framework. He denied rumors about a Rome meeting between Iran’s deputy foreign minister and the IAEA chief, affirming that all talks with the agency occurred in Tehran and that no new issues required further discussion.
