Algerian Defence Ministry’s SG Receives Deputy Chairman of Russian Defence

ALGIERS – The secretary general of the Algerian ministry of National Defence, Major General Mohamed Salah Benbicha, received Tuesday the deputy chairman of the Russian Defence and Security Committee and head of the Algerian-Russian Parliamentary Friendship Group, Iurii Vallaev, the ministry said in a statement.
“Mr. Major General Mohamed Salah Benbicha, the secretary general of the ministry of National Defence, received in audience, on Tuesday 15 April 2025, at the headquarters of the ministry of National Defence, Mr. IURII Vallaev, the deputy chairman of the Russian Defence and Security Committee and head of the Algerian-Russian Parliamentary Friendship Group, who was leading a high-level delegation,” the statement said.
“The two sides held bilateral discussions in the presence of the Head of Supply Department and the director of External Relations and Cooperation at the ministry of National Defence, as well as the members of the delegations accompanying the Russian official.”
The discussions focused on “the areas of common interest, such as the joint commission on military and technical cooperation,” the statement said.
The two sides praised “the excellent bilateral relations and mechanisms of consultation and cooperation between the two countries.”
At the end of their meeting, “the two sides exchanged symbolic gifts,” the statement added.
