UNRWA Reports Children Among Victims in Zionist Bombing of UN Building in Gaza

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini confirmed the tragic loss of nine children in the Zionist airstrike on a UN facility in the northern Gaza Strip. The bombing, which targeted a UNRWA building in Jabalia on Wednesday, killed children, including a two-week-old infant. The UN official shared the heartbreaking news in a post on the X platform, condemning the attack and highlighting the severe damage to the building.
The targeted UNRWA building, which had previously been used as a health center, had already suffered extensive damage during the early stages of the ongoing Zionist assault. At the time of the bombing, the building was sheltering around 700 people, many of whom had sought refuge after their homes were destroyed in the conflict.
Lazzarini also pointed out the dire situation for displaced individuals in Gaza, noting that despite the targeting of the UN facility, those who had taken shelter there remained in place, as they had nowhere else to go. He further revealed that over 300 UN buildings had either been severely damaged or destroyed since the beginning of the aggression, and more than 700 individuals had been killed while seeking protection under the UN’s care.
The Commissioner-General emphasized that such attacks on UN facilities and staff are clear violations of international law and called for an independent investigation into these incidents. The targeting of humanitarian sites, he said, constitutes a blatant disregard for the safety and protection of civilians in conflict zones.
