UNSC: Algeria Calls for Emergency Meeting on the Situation in Palestine

Algeria requested an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Wednesday to discuss the situation in Palestine. The meeting is set to take place on Thursday afternoon.

This request arises in light of the worsening crisis in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in Gaza, which has been under blockade for more than a month. This period has seen indiscriminate killings that have also impacted humanitarian personnel.

The call for the meeting follows the recent discovery in Gaza of the bodies of fifteen paramedics and humanitarian workers affiliated with the Palestinian Red Crescent, the Palestinian Civil Defense, and the United Nations, in addition to an unprecedented wave of violence perpetrated by settlers in the West Bank.
