Algeria’s Army Shoots Down Armed Drone Intruding into National Airspace

ALGIERS, April 1, 2025 – An armed reconnaissance drone was detected and shot down during the night from Monday to Tuesday after it intruded into national airspace, having traveled two kilometers near the border town of Tin-Zaouatine in the 6th Military Region, according to a statement from the Algerian Ministry of National Defense.

“In an effort to safeguard our national borders, a unit from the Territorial Air Defense in the 6th Military Region successfully detected and neutralized an armed reconnaissance drone near Tin-Zaouatine on April 1, 2025, around midnight, after it had penetrated national airspace by two kilometers,” the source specified.

“This operation reaffirms the heightened vigilance and constant readiness of the units of the People’s National Army to protect our land, air, and maritime borders against any threats that could compromise national sovereignty,” the statement added.
