Palestinian Detainees: Scabies Outbreak in Zionist Prisons

Palestinian detainees currently held in the Zionist occupation prisons are facing a rapid outbreak of scabies, a highly contagious parasitic skin disease, along with other infectious illnesses. This alarming situation has been attributed to medical negligence by the prison administration, as highlighted by the Palestinian Prisoner Club on Wednesday.
In a statement reported by Wafa, the Club cited accounts from released detainees and visits by lawyers, indicating that many prisoners are suffering from serious health problems due to neglect within detention facilities such as Megiddo, Ofer, and Damon.
Recently released minors from Megiddo prison reported that the majority of children there are grappling with health issues and enduring harsh and tragic conditions of confinement.
The Club further noted that the detention system deliberately denies detainees—including children and women—the necessary conditions to help curb the spread of diseases, such as access to clean food and proper hygiene.
Moreover, the Club underscored that the ongoing prevalence of diseases among detainees, coupled with the lack of medical care, could lead to an unprecedented number of Palestinian detainees dying, which they consider a form of genocide.
In this context, the Palestinian Prisoner Club holds the occupying forces fully accountable for the fate of thousands of Palestinian detainees and reiterates its urgent call for the international human rights community to intervene and put an end to the ongoing genocide in the prisons and camps under Zionist occupation.
