Four American Soldiers Missing During Exercises in Lithuania

Four American soldiers have gone missing during military exercises in Lithuania, according to announcements from the U.S. European Command and the Baltic state’s army on Wednesday.
Lithuanian and foreign troops, supported by Air Force helicopters and border guards, have been mobilized to search for the missing soldiers.
The incident took place at a training ground in eastern Lithuania during a military exercise.
“The potential area has been identified, and a search and rescue operation is currently underway,” stated the Lithuanian army in a press release.
Lithuanian authorities were alerted about the soldiers’ disappearance on Tuesday afternoon.
The U.S. Army in Europe and Africa confirmed in a statement that the soldiers were “conducting scheduled tactical training” at the time of their disappearance.
As a NATO and EU member, Lithuania hosts over 1,000 American soldiers stationed at a base on a rotational basis.
