Algeria and UNFPA Discuss Strengthening Health Sector Cooperation

ALGIERS – The Algerian Minister of Health, Abdelhak Saihi, received the representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Algeria, Faiza Bendriss, said the ministry in a press release.
This meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters in the presence of central administration officials, was “an opportunity to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health sector,” emphasized the press release.
In this respect, the UNFPA representative in Algeria described the Ministry of Health as an “essential partner with whom cooperation must be strengthened and expanded in the future,” praising “the Algerian expertise that has enabled the acquisition of significant knowledge and skills.”
She also underscored that “the Fund is willing to put its experience at Algeria’s disposal to develop a more effective strategic vision, particularly in the areas of training and expertise transfer.”
For his part, the Minister of Health emphasized “the importance of the partnership between Algeria and UNFPA,” expressing satisfaction with “the organization’s role in supporting national health programs.”
He further stressed “the necessity of continuing this cooperation to strengthen health achievements and keep pace with global developments.”
In this respect, Saihi highlighted “the importance of establishing a roadmap that clearly defines priorities and sets achievable objectives as part of the shared vision of both parties.”
