U.S. Senate Confirms John Phelan as Secretary of the Navy

The U.S. Senate confirmed John Phelan as Secretary of the Navy on Monday with a 62-30 vote. He is expected to be sworn in soon.

During his confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee last month, Phelan pledged to focus on key issues such as recruitment and retention while working to expand the Navy’s fleet. He emphasized his commitment to ensuring the Navy and Marine Corps are fully prepared to meet modern challenges.

“If confirmed, I will use my business and military charitable work experience to ensure that our Navy and Marine Corps are prepared to meet the moment,” Phelan stated during his testimony.
