Lebanese PM warns of “dire consequences” from renewed confrontations on southern border

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam warned of the “dire consequences” of renewed military activity on Lebanon’s southern border, urging international pressure on “Israel” to fully withdraw from occupied Lebanese territory, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported on Saturday.
“All security and military measures must be taken to show that Lebanon decides on matters of war and peace,” Salam said in a statement.
The Zionist occupation’s artillery and airstrikes hit southern Lebanon after claiming on Saturday that it intercepted three rockets launched from the area, without providing further details.
This exchange comes amid heightened tensions in the region, as the Zionist occupation broke the Gaza ceasefire and launched a surprise aerial campaign on the besieged enclave on Tuesday, resulting in the martyrdom of over 700 Palestinians.
A fragile ceasefire has been in place in Lebanon since November, ending months of cross-border warfare between the Zionist occupation and Hezbollah. Nevertheless, Lebanese authorities reported nearly 1,100 “Israeli” violations of the ceasefire, killing at least 85 civilians and injuring over 280 others.
