On behalf of the Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders Laïd Rebiga attended the ceremonies on Friday, which celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Republic of Namibia’s independence (March 21, 1990 – 2025) and the inauguration of the elected president, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, as stated in a ministry announcement.

The events took place at the State Residence in Windhoek, the capital city, with the participation of heads of state, government representatives, prominent African figures, and members of the diplomatic corps, according to the same source.

During a reception held in conjunction with these ceremonies, the minister conveyed President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s warm greetings and congratulations to Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on the occasion of Independence Day and her inauguration as President of the Republic of Namibia, a nation with which Algeria shares strong ties.

This meeting also served as an opportunity to “discuss the historical relations between the two countries,” emphasizing their potential to “strengthen cooperation across various sectors for the benefit of both the Algerian and Namibian peoples.”

The Algerian ambassador to Namibia, Abdelkrim Diaf, and Abdenor Khelifi, the Director General for Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were also present at the ceremonies, as reported by the source.
