Environmental Activists Arrested for Vandalizing Tesla Dealership in Montreal

Two environmental activists were arrested on Wednesday after spraying pink paint on the facade of a Tesla dealership in Montreal, Canada, as part of a protest against billionaire Elon Musk. Local police responded to an early morning call and apprehended the suspects, identified as 20-year-old Marcel Paré and 21-year-old Valérie Lachapelle, at the scene. Both are members of the Last Generation Canada environmental movement.

In a statement, the activists said their demonstration was meant to highlight the role of billionaires and fossil fuel companies in exacerbating the climate crisis. They criticized governments for continuing to support fossil fuel industries rather than protecting people from climate disasters like wildfires and floods. The group also called for the creation of a publicly funded climate disaster protection agency and argued that wealthy individuals and corporations should be held financially accountable for environmental damage.

Tesla has been targeted by activists in the United States as well, largely due to dissatisfaction with Musk’s political activities, including his leadership of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which aims to reduce federal programs and workforce. The ongoing vandalism has resulted in significant financial losses for Tesla, prompting strong reactions from US President Donald Trump, who has publicly defended the company.
