Bayer Leverkusen Lose Mario Hermoso for the Season After Surgery

Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen will be without Spanish defender Mario Hermoso for the rest of the season after he underwent surgery on a chest ligament injury in Spain.
Hermoso, 29, sustained the injury during last week’s Champions League last-16 second-leg defeat against Bayern Munich. Having joined Leverkusen in January on loan from Roma until the end of the season, he featured in four Bundesliga matches and both Champions League encounters against Munich.
Leverkusen announced on Tuesday that, in agreement with Roma, Hermoso will complete his rehabilitation in Spain. Currently, Leverkusen sit second in the Bundesliga, six points behind Bayern, and remain in contention for the German Cup semi-finals.
