Baghaei: Iran will respond to Trump letter after ‘full scrutiny’

Iran will respond to a letter by U.S. President Donald Trump “after full scrutiny,” foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday.
“We have not yet decided on the media release of the U.S. president’s message. What is being published in the media is mere speculation,” Baghaei told a press conference, adding that “the content of the message is not far from the public statements made by the U.S. president.”
Last week, Tehran received a letter from the U.S. president proposing nuclear talks, which Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei rejected, saying such a proposal was “deception” from Washington.
On Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that the United States has “no business” dictating Iran’s foreign policy, following the U.S. President Donald Trump’s warning regarding Yemen’s Houthi group.
In a televised speech, the chief of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hossein Salami, denounced Trump’s threats, saying that “Iran will respond decisively and destructively if they carry out their threats.”
