Ireland Supports Arab Plan for Gaza Reconstruction

Ireland announced its support on Friday for the recently adopted reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip put forth by Arab nations, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.
In a statement reported by Wafa, Simon Harris, Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense, highlighted that this initiative offers a concrete pathway for rebuilding the Palestinian enclave. He emphasized the importance of establishing it within a framework aimed at ensuring stability and lasting peace.
Harris further noted that Ireland is collaborating closely with its partners in the European Union and the region to facilitate the implementation of this initiative, stressing that international cooperation is crucial for the effective reconstruction of Gaza and for fostering sustainable stability in the area.
A ceasefire agreement took effect on January 19 in Gaza following over 15 months of violent conflict, which resulted in an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. The first phase of this agreement concluded on March 1.
