Algeria President Congratulates New AU Commission Chairperson

ALGIERS, March 13, 2025 – On Thursday, Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, sent a congratulatory message to Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, the newly appointed Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, expressing Algeria’s commitment to collaborating to enhance cooperation and solidarity among the continent’s states and peoples.

“It is with great pleasure that I extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes for success in your new role, on behalf of the Algerian people and government, as well as personally, on the occasion of your election to lead the African Union Commission.

Your election to this prestigious position reflects the confidence that African states have in your recognized expertise and extensive experience, and it signifies the esteem and respect you command across the continent.

I am confident that your leadership will contribute to reinforcing common African initiatives and achieving the objectives outlined in the African Union’s Agenda 2063. Furthermore, it will uphold the principles of our organization in accordance with the vision of its founding fathers and serve the aspirations of our peoples for a strong and prosperous Africa characterized by peace and stability.

Your appointment comes at a critical time that necessitates solidifying the foundations of good governance and establishing transparency within our continental organization’s Commission, aligned with our shared vision of building a robust institution capable of addressing current challenges while looking towards the future.
