Explosive Munitions Continue to Endanger Lives in Gaza (OCHA)

NEW YORK, March 12, 2025 – The extensive presence of explosive munitions in the Gaza Strip remains a significant threat to lives, as the Zionist occupation has halted all humanitarian aid entry into the Palestinian enclave since March 2. This has further exacerbated an already critical humanitarian crisis, warned the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on Wednesday.
OCHA reported that the incident database maintained by the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) has recorded a sharp increase in casualties resulting from explosive devices.
Although data is limited, there have been 18 reported explosive incidents from the beginning of 2025 until March 10, leading to three fatalities and 38 injuries. Among the victims are two children dead and 18 other injured individuals, underscoring the heightened vulnerability of children.
Most incidents occurring after the ceasefire can be attributed to displaced Palestinians returning to damaged buildings and previously inaccessible areas.
