
ALGIERS– Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, ordered during the Council of Ministers meeting, held on Sunday, the structuring of the marble sector and encouraged officials in this field to raise the investment threshold in this industry, according to a statement from the Council of Ministers.
Regarding a presentation on the marble sector, the algerian President ordered “the organization of this ancient and strategic sector, as well as collaboration with professional international partners who are leaders in this industry,” the source said.
The President further ordered “to ban the import of finished marble slabs, while launching new investments and introducing reforms in this industry to support national production.”
Furthermore, Tebboune encouraged “officials in this sector to carefully raise the investment threshold, as it is a significant source of foreign currency and a provider of jobs for young people,” the same source added.
