Algerian President’s Message on the Occasion of International Women’s Day

ALGIERS, March 7, 2025 – The Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, delivered a message in honor of International Women’s Day (March 8), which is translated as follows:
“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful,
May Allah’s blessings and peace be upon His Messenger.
Algerian women celebrate International Women’s Day (March 8) during a period marked by their remarkable skills and exceptional qualifications as they pursue their aspirations across various sectors and fields, including holding managerial positions within state institutions and organizations. They prove their worth through successful entrepreneurship and actively engage in public affairs, leading civil society initiatives and associative actions, thus showcasing their talents to enhance performance and serve society. Alongside men, they equally contribute to Algeria’s renaissance.
This year, the Algerian woman commemorates her International Day in a nation determined and capable of achieving comprehensive renewal. She draws inspiration from the spirit of challenge and victory exemplified by brave women whose journeys and sacrifices in defense of the homeland are forever etched in our memory.
On this International Women’s Day, symbolizing human emancipation, Algerian women proudly reflect on the legacy of those who selflessly dedicated themselves during the glorious Liberation Revolution, embodying eternal examples of courage and sacrifice. They serve as role models among the militant fighters and moudjahidate who placed Algeria’s honor and dignity above all else, considering the fight for independence as the noblest quest and the most cherished goal. From the first female martyrs of popular resistance and the glorious Liberation Revolution, such as Lalla Fatma N’Soumer and Dzair Chaib, to martyr Malika Gaid, revolutionary icon Hassiba Ben Bouali, and the Djamilates—Bouazza, Bouhired, Boupacha, and Toubal—as well as devoted moudjahidates Zohra Drif Bitat and Louisa Ighilahriz, and their sisters across Algeria’s illustrious towns and villages, may Allah grant them enduring life.
We seize this opportunity to extend our heartfelt wishes to Algerian women on International Women’s Day and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to strengthening their role in society and facilitating their access to high-ranking positions. Thus, Algeria, true to its authenticity, will advance towards modernity, sustainable development, and a comprehensive renaissance thanks to all its devoted children.
Long live Algeria!
Glory and eternity to our valiant martyrs.
May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon you.”
