Lavrov Compares Macron’s Statements to Hitler and Napoleon

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has drawn a sharp comparison between French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent remarks and those of historical figures like Adolf Hitler and Napoleon Bonaparte.
Speaking at a press conference, Lavrov criticized Macron’s approach, stating, “Unlike his predecessors, who also sought to fight with Russia—Napoleon, Hitler—Mr. Macron does not act very diplomatically.” He accused the French leader of pushing for conflict under the pretense of self-defense.
Lavrov further suggested that Macron’s rhetoric mirrors past attempts to challenge Russia, saying, “They stated openly: ‘We must conquer Russia, we must defeat Russia.’ And he apparently wants the same thing but frames it as a necessity to prevent Russia from defeating France and posing a threat to Europe.”
