Equinor Discovers Gas and Condensate in Norway’s Halten Area

Norwegian energy giant Equinor and its partners Okea and Pandion Energy have discovered gas and condensate at the Mistral South exploration well in the Halten area of the Norwegian Sea. The company announced the discovery in a statement on Wednesday, indicating plans for development.

Preliminary estimates suggest recoverable reserves of between 19 and 44 million barrels of oil equivalent, Equinor reported.

“The partners consider this a commercially viable discovery and are evaluating either a tie-back to existing infrastructure or development in conjunction with other discoveries in the region,” the statement added.

Equinor holds a 50% stake in the exploration license, while Okea and Pandion each own 20%, and DNO holds the remaining 10%.
