Trump Vows to Secure Greenland ‘One Way or Another’

US President Donald Trump declared Tuesday that the US would secure Greenland “one way or another,” stressing its necessity for national and international security. Speaking before Congress, he emphasized ongoing efforts to acquire the island, reaffirming US commitment to Greenland’s future.
Greenland, an autonomous Danish territory since 1979, is rich in minerals and strategically located in the Arctic. While the US has shown increasing interest, both Denmark and Greenland have firmly rejected any sale. Trump, however, expressed support for Greenlanders’ self-determination, welcoming them to join the US if they choose.
Despite Trump’s remarks, resistance remains strong. Denmark insists on its sovereignty, and a January survey found that 85% of Greenland’s population opposes becoming part of the US.
