Algerian FM Attends G20 Ministerial Meeting in Johannesburg

Appointed by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf arrived in Johannesburg on Wednesday to participate in the G20 ministerial meeting scheduled for February 20 and 21. This meeting is being held under the presidency of South Africa, according to a statement from the ministry.
This gathering is part of the preparations for the G20 Summit, which is set to take place in the last quarter of 2025. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has received an invitation to attend this summit from his South African counterpart, President Cyril Ramaphosa, the statement added.
The ministerial meeting will focus on examining developments in the international geopolitical landscape and the priorities established by South Africa during its presidency, marking the first African leadership of the G20 since the organization’s inception, the statement notes.
During his participation in this meeting, Attaf will engage in bilateral discussions with several counterparts from G20 member states, the same source further indicates.
