ALGIERS- Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, stressed on Monday that the commemoration of National Shaheed Day was an opportunity to draw confidence in Algeria’s strengths and mobilize its potential to elevate the country to the rank of emerging nations.
In a message on the occasion of National Shaheed Day, which coincides with February 18, the President of the Republic said that the commemoration of this day was an opportunity “to express the loyalty and gratitude of the Algerian people
for the heavy price paid in the blood of the martyrs on the path to liberation and emancipation.”
It is also an opportunity to express loyalty “to the immeasurable sacrifices made by convoys of free patriotic men and women who understood, after decades of struggle in the school of the national movement, that colonialism, with its brutal and
destructive methods, had invaded our pure land and hindered the progress of its brave people for more than one hundred and thirty years, he said.
The President of the Republic mentioned the efforts the Algerian people’s resistance against the colonizer, through which revolutionaries found out “that there was no option other than armed struggle, which they conducted with courage and
merit, without yielding to the balance of forces and without their determination being shaken by the horrors and difficulties faced.”
