Feyenoord Edge AC Milan 1-0 in Champions League Playoff First Leg

Feyenoord secured a vital 1-0 victory over AC Milan in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League playoff tie on Wednesday, giving them the upper hand ahead of the return leg in Italy. Igor Paixao scored Feyenoord’s fastest-ever Champions League goal in the 3rd minute with a precise right-footed shot, assisted by Gijs Smal, setting the tone for the Dutch side.
The win came amid a managerial shake-up at Feyenoord, following the sacking of head coach Brian Priske and the appointment of Pascal Bosschaart as interim manager. Currently fifth in the Eredivisie, Feyenoord will look to hold their advantage in the decisive second leg at Milan’s San Siro Stadium on February 18. The winner of the tie will face either Inter Milan or Arsenal in the last 16.
Elsewhere in the Champions League playoffs, Club Brugge edged Atalanta 2-1, Bayern Munich defeated Celtic by the same scoreline, and Benfica claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Monaco.
