Sonatrach Explores Opportunities of Cooperation with Bosch and ThyssenKrupp

ALGIERS, February 11, 2025 – Rachid Hachichi, CEO of Algerian oil company Sonatrach Group, met with high-level delegations from the German companies Bosch and ThyssenKrupp to discuss strategies for enhancing cooperation, particularly in relation to energy transition and green hydrogen. This was reported in a statement released by the Group on Tuesday.

The discussions took place on Monday at the headquarters of the Group’s General Directorate and were attended by senior executives. During the meeting, Markus Thill, President of Bosch Africa, presented on Bosch Group’s capabilities and development prospects in Africa, as noted in the statement.

In this context, Thill emphasized that “Bosch places significant importance on Algeria due to its strategic position and robust economic landscape,” while also recognizing “the vast potential Algeria possesses in new and renewable energies.”

This meeting allowed the President of Bosch Africa to highlight his company’s expertise in maintaining industrial structures and manufacturing electrolyzers, which are critical components in the production of green hydrogen, according to the same source.

Hachichi underscored “the substantial natural and human resources available in Algeria, especially within Sonatrach, which have facilitated the establishment of strategic partnerships with some of the world’s largest corporations.”

He invited the German representatives to organize meetings with Sonatrach experts to explore effective avenues for partnership and cooperation between the two companies, particularly concerning green hydrogen, including the local manufacturing of electrolyzer components.

In discussions with a high-level delegation from ThyssenKrupp, led by CEO Nadja Hakansson, both parties considered ways to enhance their collaboration, specifically through innovative technological solutions in manufacturing and energy transition.

 

During this meeting, they discussed the prospects for developing bilateral relations and increasing mutual investments aimed at aligning with their shared interests.

ThyssenKrupp is a leader in industry, technology, research, and development, operating in key sectors such as decarbonization technologies, metallurgical material services in Europe, and maritime systems. The company is also committed to climate protection, the transition to clean energy, and digital transformation, according to the same source.

This meeting forms part of Sonatrach’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international partnerships and develop innovative solutions that address global shifts in the energy sector and manufacturing industries.
