Iran’s Araghchi Criticizes Trump’s “Maximum Pressure” Policy, Calls for “Maximum Wisdom”

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has described U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Maximum Pressure” policy as a failed approach, asserting that it will only lead to “Maximum Resistance” from Iran.

In a post on his X account, Araghchi emphasized that Iran, as a committed member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and other global nonproliferation agreements, has consistently stated it will never seek, develop, or acquire nuclear weapons.

Araghchi urged for “Maximum Wisdom” instead of continued pressure, suggesting that achieving practical assurances that Iran will not pursue nuclear weapons is not difficult, provided that hostile actions, including economic pressures and sanctions, are effectively ended.

Trump had previously signed a memorandum to reinstate the “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran, a policy he initiated during his first term. While signing the memo in the Oval Office and ahead of a meeting with zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump indicated that he had been reluctant about taking this step.
