Algeria: Health Minister Discusses Strengthening Cooperation with Danish Ambassador
ALGIERS, February 5, 2025 – On Tuesday, the Algerian Minister of Health, Abdelhak Saihi, met with Katrine From Hoyer, the Danish Ambassador to Algeria, in Algiers to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation in the healthcare sector, according to a communiqué from the ministry released on Wednesday.
The meeting, which included officials from the central administration, provided an opportunity to review and evaluate the existing bilateral relations with the goal of further promoting them. Discussions centered on strengthening collaboration in healthcare and identifying potential partnership opportunities between the two countries in areas of mutual interest within both public and private sectors.
In this context, Saihi underscored the importance of developing initiatives that serve the interests of both nations, commending the “convergence of views” between Algeria and Denmark.
He also praised the presence of Danish companies in Algeria, emphasizing the need to support investment operations through training programs for paramedical staff. The minister affirmed that his ministry is “dedicated to bringing together all resources to ensure patients receive optimal medical care.”
For her part, From Hoyer, accompanied by a delegation from Coloplast—a company specializing in healthcare products and services—expressed her country’s eagerness to deepen bilateral cooperation and bolster the presence of Danish businesses in Algeria. She highlighted the interest of Danish companies in both public and private sectors to invest in Algeria.
In this regard, she proposed several areas for cooperation, exchange of expertise, and training between Danish and Algerian companies, particularly emphasizing postoperative medical care.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to schedule working sessions to address matters of common interest, according to the same source.
