Russian State Duma Speaker Warns of Nuclear War Over Discussions of Attack on Putin

Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin issued a stark warning on Wednesday, stating that any attempt or even discussion of an attack on President Vladimir Putin could lead to “nuclear war” and pose a serious threat to global security.
Volodin referenced claims made by US journalist Tucker Carlson, who alleged that the Biden administration had plotted to assassinate Putin. Volodin criticized the lack of response from Washington, stating that neither President Joe Biden nor Secretary of State Antony Blinken had denied the accusation. “A day has passed. Everyone is quiet,” Volodin wrote on Telegram, accusing the US of not clarifying its position.
Calling the alleged assassination plot a “crime” and a “grave danger to global security,” Volodin called for an international investigation into the matter. “This should serve as grounds for an inquiry by all international institutions,” he said.
He also linked the claim to other targeted incidents, including an attempt to attack Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, an alleged plot against Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, and the attack on former US President Donald Trump during his election campaign. According to Volodin, these incidents are part of a larger pattern.
Volodin urged Russian special services to remain vigilant amid the ongoing conflict and underscored the gravity of the threats. “We must understand the challenges and dangers we are dealing with,” he said. “That means we must feel our responsibility.”
He praised Putin’s leadership, emphasizing that “Russia’s advantage” lies in the president’s guidance and stressed the importance of unity and consolidation around him, especially in these challenging times.
