China Commends Algeria’s Role in Strengthening Global Peace (Ambassador)

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Algeria, Dong Guangli, commended Algeria’s “important role” in fostering peace both regionally and internationally, as well as its steadfast commitment to supporting just causes.
Speaking at a reception on Thursday evening at the “Moufdi Zakaria” Cultural Palace in Algiers to celebrate the Chinese New Year, the ambassador remarked that Algeria, as “a great African, Arab, and Mediterranean country,” plays a vital role in promoting peace and development on both regional and global stages. He expressed gratitude for Algeria’s advocacy of just causes and its dedication to emerging nations within the UN Security Council, where Algeria serves as a non-permanent member—an engagement he described as “highly valued” by China.
During his address, he emphasized the “deep historical friendship” between China and Algeria, highlighting that “relations between the two countries have become even stronger in recent years, particularly through their collaborative anti-colonial efforts, as well as initiatives aimed at enhancing development and achieving global peace.”
“Sixty-seven years after the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries continue to uphold ties grounded in trust, mutual respect, and reciprocal support,” he noted, adding that these principles “serve as a model for relations between states.”
Reflecting on the “historic meeting” between President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Xi Jinping in July 2023 during the Algerian President’s official visit to China, the diplomat underscored that this meeting laid the groundwork for future Sino-Algerian relations.
