Algerian Minister of Culture and Arts Engages in Talks with Italian Counterpart

The Algerian Minister of Culture and Arts, Zouhir Ballalou, engaged in bilateral discussions on Thursday in Algiers with his Italian counterpart, Alessandro Giuli, along with an accompanying delegation. The meeting, attended by officials from the ministry, aimed to explore avenues for collaboration and deepen bilateral consultations, as noted in a ministry communiqué.

This meeting unveiled new opportunities for cooperation and cultural exchange between the two countries, particularly regarding the protection, enhancement, and restoration of cultural heritage, cinema, theater, literature, music, and visual arts, Mr. Ballalou remarked in the statement.

The minister also emphasized the development of a special program for theoretical and practical training, which will be implemented through concrete actions designed to revitalize all joint cultural projects, commending the “close relations” that connect the two nations at all levels.

Meanwhile, the Italian Minister of Culture, currently on a two-day official visit to Algeria to strengthen bilateral ties, called for collaborative initiatives to enrich the Italo-Algerian cultural landscape, noting that both countries “share the same visions.”

He also underscored Italy’s commitment to promoting Algerian culture on a global scale.

During their meeting, the two sides discussed various upcoming cultural projects, highlighting the importance of the Algerian-Italian agreement on joint film production, particularly in light of Algeria’s genuine renaissance in the film industry following the national conference on cinema chaired by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Both parties thoroughly deliberated on strategies to enhance efforts in the protection and promotion of cultural heritage worldwide, paving the way for extensive exchanges of expertise and knowledge in this vital field.
