Algeria to host ministerial meeting at UNSC on the Palestinian cause developments

ALGIERS – Algerian Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, announced on Monday that Algeria will organise a ministerial meeting of the UN Security Council focused on the situation in Palestine and the Middle East during its presidency of the Council starting in January.
In a press conference held in Algiers, FM Attaf reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to prioritising the Palestinian cause during its tenure as president of the UN Security Council, continuing its efforts from the first year of its presidency to keep the cause under the central focus of the UN.
In this regard, one of the key achievements of Algerian diplomacy at the UN Security Council in support of the Palestinian cause, according to Attaf, was the reintroduction of Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations on its rightful basis, emphasising that “the guiding principle of Algerian diplomacy at the Security Council remains the instructions of the President of the Republic, which continue to serve as a roadmap for Algeria through key strategic axes.”
Ultimately, the Algerian minister affirmed that Algeria consistently serves as a voice for the Arab and African nations, advocating for their concerns and aspirations with utmost sincerity and dedication. He also noted the positive response to Algeria’s efforts since the beginning of its tenure at the Security Council, stating, “The efforts Algeria has made during its tenure have been well-received and appreciated by all Arab countries, and were carried out in coordination with the Arab League and the African Union.”
